About Biwabik

“Biwabik” meaning valuable in Ojibway, is the gateway to Giants Ridge Golf & Ski Resort. Long valued for its iron ore, today, Biwabik is a travel destination. The community, a trailhead of the historic Mesabi Trail, is the home of the “Honk the Moose” statue and boasts a well-lit walking trail, paved bike trails, city beach with a full time lifeguard, play ground, and camp ground. Soccer fields, baseball fields, located centrally is the city park. The park is filled with flowers in the summer and the trees are lit with lights in the winter. On the west end of our city is the popular sliding hill and skating rink. True to the ethnic diversity of Iron Range communities, Biwabik treats visitors to its unique Bavarian style. It has become the area’s year-round center of attractions, hosting thousands of Alpine & Nordic skiers, snowmobilers and golfers. Biwabik is host to several festivals including: the Fourth of July, which presents the area’s largest (Calithumpian) Fourth of July Parade; and Weihnachtsfest (the first Saturday in December) a Christmas lighting celebration complete with fireworks, displays, ethic food, music and entertainment. Our city is a friendly and fun city to live and raise a family
